It gives me a great pleasure on behalf of the Pharmacy Council to welcome you to our website. These are exciting challenging times at Pharmacy Council and I hope our website creates an opportunity for our valued visitors around the world to learn more about our operations and services. This website is part of the external manifestation of our commitment to transparency and open communication to all our stakeholders as well as to the wider public interested in our activities and services.

Our role is to protect the public that use pharmacy services by registering competent professionals to practice pharmacy and regulate the system of managing and delivering wholesale and retail pharmacy services.

We are involved with pharmacists, pharmaceutical technicians and assistants and other cadre who are involved in dispensing medicines from the day they start their education and training through obtaining their approvals, registration and licenses to practice. In addition, we regulate the personnel involved in the promotion and advertisement of medicines and medical devices by providing license for such practice.

We also set education and training standards for pharmacy and approve the institutions that provide pharmacy training before are registered by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and National Accreditation Council for Technical Education (NACTE). We are mandated to assure the quality of internship and set pre-registration and professional examinations that you will have to pass before your are registered as a pharmacist, enrolled as pharmaceutical technician, enlisted as pharmaceutical assistant or allowed to practice in the country.

Our website has resources that will be important to you. These include, regulations, guidelines, our standards of conduct, professional code of conduct, details of applications and inspections system that support them. I look forward to detailing all these and other developments at the appropriate time, and our website will remain the ideal source of updated information.
